The New Entropy comes to the Danforth Gallery in Livingston, MT. on Friday, August 27 with an artist’s opening reception held from 5:30-8:30 p.m., during the Livingston Gallery Association Art Walk.
The New Entropy is a collective of Bozeman artists, who originated in and around Memphis, TN, The New Entropy allow their individual styles and areas of creative production to intermingle into a seamless web of creative work unlike anything seen before. April Hale, Dalton C. Brink, William Shirey, and Ryan Mitchell, use every tool available to create a completely controlled environment within the gallery space. Through the mediums of painting, drawing, film, concept installation, originally composed music, kinetics, written word, ceramics, jewelry, dramatic lighting, and fashion, The New Entropy have pushed the boundaries beyond the all-too-conventional art show and into an atmosphere all its own.
Upon the Heels of the Mystics is a tangible expression of the belief held by the Entropists that the act of self-expression is not only beneficial but absolutely necessary to the health of the human species. Dalton Brink describes it this way…“Stress of everyday life, the let down of failed expectations, the boredom, the hectic multitasking of the modern age…these things all build up within the human system much the same way that heat, stress, and exhaustion build within a mechanical system creating, what’s termed in physics as Entropy, or chaos. Without an outlet for this entropy, this chaos, the system, no matter what that system is, will inevitably breakdown. We believe it is the same with the human body. Without some sort of outlet for this internal entropy, we too shall collapse. Self-expression is this necessary outlet. It is our savior from ourselves.”
Original live music from Jason Lytle of Granddaddy fame and Admiral Radley will be presented during the art walk. “Upon the Heels Of The Mystics” will run through September 21st. PCFA and the Danforth Gallery invite the public to the artist’s reception on the evening of Friday, August 27th from 5:30-8:30 p.m. A special “members only” preview will be held from 5:00-5:30 for current PCFA members.
